to preserve water

Mission

qui sommes nous

The Multi One Attitude Foundation aims to bring people together preserve water.

The Multi One Attitude Foundation aims to bring people together preserve water.

The defining global challenge of the 21st century will almost certainly be water.
But both the causes and consequences of the many humanitarian and environmental issues connected to water scarcity and the disruption of ocean eco-systems are less well understood than other areas of sustainable development. As a result, there is also less public, corporate and political engagement with many of the issues.

At the Multi One Attitude Foundation, our philosophy is that sport can make a positive contribution to sustainable development. For what other global phenomenon has the power to harness the passions and loyalty of ordinary people, the ability to transcend national boundaries and a commitment to high performance and continuous improvement?

And when it comes to water issues, we believe that no sport is better placed than sailing to make a difference. For the passion and excitement that people feel around sailing is based on the intimate connection that it brings with the natural world and since sailing has a symbiotic relationship with the world’s water supplies, sailors should be seen as their natural custodian.

Multi One Attitude Foundation was created to realise our conviction that sailing can help protect the planet’s most precious resource. It’s the race for water.

The Multi One Championship brings together the adventure of ocean sailing races with the tension and drama of inshore races. Performance, speed and endurance are the winning combination in yacht races. Held within easy view of the public, the races of the Multi One Championship combine sport, spectacle and suspense, within the heart of the world’s greatest cities, around Europe and around the world.

But the Multi One Championship is so much more than this. It is a global awareness platform to help protect the world’s water. And that contribution will be made through the Multi One Attitude Foundation.

The Multi One Attitude Foundation is a charitable organisation that aims to use sailing as a means for education and awareness of key water sustainability issues and find solutions for those key issues. The mission of the foundation is simple: bringing people together to preserve water.

To achieve this mission, the Multi One Attitude Foundation has implemented a program based on three principles: LEARN, SHARE, ACT.

THE PROGRAMME

To maximize its impact, the organization has developed a three‐year program. The program was launched in 2011 and revolves around three pillars: “learning” by informing the general public, “sharing” by collaboration and initiating a broad a movement as possible, and lastly “acting” by finding concrete solutions.

  • LEARN :
The Foundation has hoisted its flags of education and set out to encourage a generation to change its behaviour, this is why the Foundation directs many of its outreach efforts toward children.
  • SHARE :
The Foundation is tied to economic factors. Since 60% of water consumption is attributed to economic activi‐ ties, the Foundation wants to share experiences with busi‐ nesses and offer them advice to reduce water consumption.
  • ACT :
The Foundation has started the movement. Using the fleet of MOD70 to drop Argos beacon out of commercial areas, the Foundation acts to improve knowledge of the oceans. This partnership with the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Committee (CIO) of UNESCO and the World System of Observation of the Oceans (SMOO) participate in creating a better understanding of the marine world.

ADOPT THE MULTI ONE ATTITUDE !

EVERYONE BEHIND AN ECO-FRIENDLY LIFESTYLE

The Multi One Attitude Foundation has prioritized two key water issues
Ocean Preservation and Freshwater preservation

OCEAN PRESERVATION

THE CAUSE

  • 225 million tonnes of plastic are produced each year, mostly used only once
  • 1 million toxic plastic bags are used every minute
  • Only 3-5% of the plastic is recycled

THE CONSEQUENCE

  • 1 million birds and 100,000 mammals die every year because of plastic
  • Approximately 10% of plastic waste ends up in the oceans

OUR CONTRIBUTION

  • The foundation will seek to empower people to personally play a role in solving ocean pollution issues

FRESHWATER PRESERVATION

The biggest water footprints are hidden in the products we consumer everyday. For example, it takes 16,000 litres of water to make 1kg beef. At the same time, there are about 1.1billion people worldwide who don’t have access to clean drinking water.

THE CAUSE

  • The average of water used per day per person in Europe is 200 litres, in the United States 400 litres, in the developing world,10 litres
  • Agriculture represents more than 70% of the worldwide water consumption
  • Following current trends, humanity will use 40% more fresh water over the next twenty years

THE CONSEQUENCE

  • WATER STRESS - water resources that are no longer sufficient for the population’s needs

OUR CONTRIBUTION

  • Create a bigger public mobilisation around water issues around the world and across all levels of society
